Safarbuddy was founded in Natin Village with a simple realization: the best part of trekking isn't just the views, but the conversations around the evening camp stove. We create premium, small-group expeditions focused on relationships.
The Safarbuddy Genesis
In an era where adventure tourism has turned into high-volume commercial lines—with hundreds of trekkers lining up in single file behind megaphone-toting guides—the essence of the mountains was getting lost. The mountains are places of quietude, reflection, and solidarity.
We set up Safarbuddy in 2021 as a collective of local Himalayan guides, naturalists, and safety professionals. Our base camp in Natin Village (Bhatwari, Uttarkashi) became our anchor. We decided to strip away the mass-tourism model. We capped our treks at 12 members and integrated the local community directly into our business.
Crucially, we pledged to return 65% of our profitsback to Natin and Sankri village councils. This pays for local waste-recycling systems, sponsors mountain school libraries, and funds pensions for retired porters and guides. When you trek with Safarbuddy, you aren't a tourist consuming a landscape; you are an active part of a thriving mountain community.

Community Over Commercialization
We cap every trek batch at 12 members. No massive cohorts, no rushed marches. We design space for shared cooking, evening stories, and genuine bonding, allowing strangers to become life-long friends.
Wilderness Safety Grid
Safety is built into our architecture. All guides are Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certified. We maintain daily health logs (oxygen saturation/pulse) and carry full emergency medical rigs on all treks.
Eco-Conscious Footsteps
We operate strictly under 'Leave No Trace' (LNT) principles. We pack out all garbage, use eco-friendly dry-toilet setups, and lead volunteer cleanups during the heavy monsoon trekking seasons.

Trekking is not about conquer or speed. We believe in slow, acclimatizing climbs that respect the body's limits, foster self-reflection, and pay deepest respect to local mountain cultures.

Guiding with Credentials, Leading with Heart
Every Safarbuddy trek is backed by international wilderness safety guidelines. We are registered with the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) and strictly implement Leave No Trace (LNT) garbage accounting grids.
